My Practice.
As a marriage and family therapist, I think about patterns, themes and underlying issues. I take a systemic approach that is concerned with the overall well-being of the people I work with. Increased insight, being present in the moment and connection are underlying principles of my work. My therapy style is a mix of being warm, supportive while compassionately challenging you.
I take a collaborative approach to working with my clients. I do not believe in a “one size fits all” therapy style. Most often we start with what is immediately troubling clients and weave in how the past has impacted them, different ways of coping and how to pave a different path forward. Throughout the therapy process I am working together with my clients to find what works best for them and do my best to integrate that feedback into our therapy.
I strive for our work together to be culturally competent whether that means exploring race, faith, ethnicity, sexuality, you name it..we’ll explore it. I want to explore power and privilege imbalances in and out of the therapy office. I hope in this exploration you feel safe, understood and more informed on how culture impacts your emotional wellbeing.
My areas of special interest focus around women’s issues. Particularly women who struggle with the unrealistic pressure to do it all. That pressure is often accompanied by anxiety, overwhelm and feelings of not being good enough. I have supported countless women in letting go of the pressure to do it all and tuning into their own values, priorities and desires for their life. I also have an expertise in depression, anxiety, and perinatal mood disorders.
